Short and Sad

Sometimes I think I must live in a cave.

I had never heard of Hemingway’s shortest story. According to Arthur C. Clark (well actually according to Wikipedia on Hemingway, mentioning Clark), Hemingway bet $10 that he could write a complete novel in six words. He won the bet.

For Sale: Baby shoes. Never worn.

– Ernest Hemingway

Wired asked a number of top science fiction authors to do the same. Harry Harrison, one of my favorite authors came up with “TIME MACHINE REACHES FUTURE!!! … nobody there …” Many of the other entries are equally as good.

And no, I’m not going to try.
